International Children’s Book Day

You are invited to a special celebration of children’s books from around the world on Saturday, April 2, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Join us at Worlds of Words to celebrate books and reading.  April 2, the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, is celebrated around the world as International Children’s Book Day. You will have the opportunity to browse award-winning books, meet authors and illustrators, listen to stories in world languages, and have a slice of birthday cake.  You can stop by anytime between 9:00-12:00 on that Saturday morning and there’s even free parking in the Second Street Garage.

• Children’s authors and illustratorsRon Himler, Joan Sandin, James Deem, Marge Pellegrino, and Paul Mirocha will bring original drafts of their books and illustrations, answer your questions, and autograph.  Books by these authors and illustrators will be available for purchase.

• International Readers – Listen to children’s books read aloud in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Arabic, and Spanish.  Books from these countries will be on display.

• Displays of award-winning international books for children and teens.

• Resources and book lists for classroom teachers and librarians

• Bookmarks and Posters!!  Give-aways!!

Everyone is Welcome — Children, Families, Teachers, Community Members!!

Stop by anytime between 9:00-12:00 on Saturday morning, April 2, at Worlds of Words, Room 453 in the College of Education, 1430 E. 2nd Street.  Free parking is available in the Second Street Garage at 2nd and Mountain.
