Mock Caldecott Award Competition

Caldecott Gold Medal stickerYou are invited to a Mock Caldecott Award Competition to decide on our own Caldecott Medal award winner for the most distinguished artist of an American picturebook. Join us for an enjoyable time of books, conversation and food as we read, talk and eat.

Join us to:
• Browse previous medal winners based on the selection criteria
• Read a set of books from 2023 that are being considered for the 2024 award
• Vote for the best picturebook published in 2023 using the Caldecott voting process
• Decide how many honor books to select

Enjoy refreshments as we read and debate what is the most distinguished picturebook for this year.

The American Library Association will announce the awards in a live streaming on January 22, 2024, so we can compare our decisions with the official award-winners.

Free parking is available at the surface parking lot north of the intersection of First and Vine and in the Second St. Garage next door to the College of Education. The WOW Center is also located just off of the 2nd St. Modern Streetcar stop.
