Love of Literacy: A Children’s Book Festival at Children’s Museum

Four boys involved in a hands-on activity under the shade of WOW's tent at Tucson Children's Museum's Love of Literacy FestivalThe Children’s Museum Tucson officially invites you to their 8th annual Love of Literacy Festival: A Children’s Book Festival. Love of Literacy is a free admission day geared for families and children of all ages to discover the importance of literacy as well as emphasizing the significance of exposing children to reading at an early age. While you’re there, look for the Worlds of Words booth.

Visual narratives in picturebooks provide a storytelling power that bridges cultural and linguistic barriers. Everyone can share the same story, no matter where they come from or what language they speak. At the Love of Literacy Festival, Worlds of Words offers scheduled read alouds from our international collection of visual narrative books along with hands-on activities to enrich interaction with these stories. Take a look at our posted schedule or drop by our tent anytime. For a deeper look into visual narratives, WOW shares information about our current exhibit including how to schedule a free tour.

Ferdinand
Look for the Worlds of Words tent at the Children’s Museum for the Love of Literacy Festival! We’ll be celebrating all things reading by sharing books from the Hello, Dear Enemy! exhibit on our story time blanket. We will also have bookmarks featuring three of the books from the exhibit to decorate and take home. Additionally, people can write about what brings them joy and how they can make the world a more beautiful place on flowers and butterflies. Then, when we bring those words back to WOW, we will add them to Ferdinand’s Happiness Pasture, based on the favorite children’s book, The Story of Ferdinand by Leaf Munro.
