Author Isabel Quintero to speak at Worlds of Words

Worlds of Words hosts award-winning author Isabel Quintero. Her books include Gabi, a Girl In Pieces (young adult novel), Photographic: The Life of Graciela Iturbide (graphic novel biography), the Ugly Cat and Pablo series and My Papi Has a Motorcycle (picturebook).

The program includes a brief presentation, a question and answer period and time for personal interactions with the author. The UA BookStores offers books for sale and autographing during this event.

Paid parking is available at the Second St. Garage next door to the College of Education. Worlds of Words is also located just off of the 2nd St. streetcar stop.

Meet Isabel Quintero

Author Isabel Quintero to speak at Worlds of Words

Worlds of Words hosts Isabel Quintero, author of Gabi, a Girl In Pieces, the 2015 winner of the William C. Morris Award.

In Gabi, a Girl In Pieces, Gabi Hernandez, an aspiring poet, is having a complex senior year. She faces conflict in both her home life and social life. Negotiating two cultures and two sets of gender rules in Spanish and English, Gabi finds the confidence to be true to her own sense of self.

Through Gabi’s humorous journal entries, Quintero explores themes of sex and sexual identity, addiction, conflicting cultural values, and eating disorders. This event includes a presentation by Quintero followed by a brief Q&A. Books will be available for purchase and autographs.
