WOW Book Fiesta with Lori Alexander

Portrait of Lori AlexanderMeet Sibert Honor Book author Lori Alexander and explore what’s All In a Drop!

Feed your curiosity and explore the world up close. Join us for science centers around magnifying glasses and microscopes. We will go on a nature scavenger hunt, make microbe models and look at everyday objects up close–very close!

Antony van Leeuwenhoek never took a science class. He didn’t speak Latin like all the other scientist of the day. Yet, through his curiosity and perseverance, he engineered a microscope unlike any other. He was the first to discover bacteria and other microscopic life and is now remembered as the “Father of Microbiology.” All In a Drop is a lively, accessible and full-color biography that shows how a self-taught scientist was the first to observe the microbial life in and around us.

In addition to the presentation and centers, enjoy light refreshments, listen to read alouds and explore Lori’s books. The University of Arizona BookStores will offer books for sale and autographing during this event. The workshop includes two free hours of professional development for teachers.
