Lovey and Dovey is a humorous twist of a tale of true love. Lovey and Dovey are in a dark and dismal jail cell for stealing a pair of blue socks. They are accepting of their fate, but when Lovey remarks that the view leaves much to be desired – Dovey makes it his mission to do anything for his true love. He brings back views of the sunset and even the moon and stars for his true love.
The illustrations are soft and warm, and add sparkle and wit to this tale of two smitten sweethearts. The addition of animals in the illustrations appeals to children, even if the message of stealing isn’t the best message to send to young children. Stealing is wrong – but in Lovey and Dovey’s case – it works for them! This entertaining story demonstrates how far some will go for love.
