Sunday Chutney has the most extraordinary life–she has lived all over the world. Moving around means she’s always the new kid at school and never really has a place to call home. But Sunday Chutney doesn’t care about that because she knows how to handle it.

Sunday Chutney is a short picture book about a girl named Sunday Chutney who is always the new girl in school. The story is told from Sunday’s perspective as she describes the good and bad parts of being the new girl and her likes and dislikes. Sunday’s story is comical and engaging. She is definitely a unique character who has many interests.
This is a great story for young children, Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The story is a good read aloud for young children because of its length and words per page. The illustrations are also beautiful and interesting and my favorite part of the book. Author and illustrator, Aaron Blabey uses illustrations of photographs to show many of Sunday’s adventures and the text is integrated into the illustrations. This is a good story for a child who is moving to a new school or for children who have a new student in their class. Or this story can just be an amusing read aloud. I think children will enjoy this story because it is fun and really captures the spirit and personality of the main character.
