Worlds of Words Middle School Reading Ambassadors invite you to meet Newberry award winner Donna Barba Higuera, author of Xolo.

Xolo reveals the true tale of Xolotl, the god of lightning, death and misfortune. This novel offers a perspective on the story of Quetzalcoatl who helped create the earth and stole back the bones of humanity from the evil god of the Underworld. Donna Barba Higuera works with illustrator Mariana Ruiz Johnson to reimagine the Aztec myth of the origin of man and man's best friend.
Donna Barba Higuera is the New York Times best selling author of middle grade novels and picturebooks that reinvent history, folklore and or her own life experience into compelling storylines. She lives in Washington State with her family, two dogs, two guppies and a frog.
Her books have been translated into over a dozen languages and include Lupe Wong Won't Dance, El Cucuy Is Scared, Too!, The Last Cuentista Series, The Yellow Handkerchief, and have won awards including: the Newbery medal, both Pura Belpré medal and honor, PNBA best book of the year award and the Sid Fleischman award for best children's humor book of the year.
U of A Campus Stores will join us with copies of several titles available for sale and autographing. Book sales and signing will occur from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
Ticketed parking is available in the Second St. Garage and metered parking is available on the street/surface level through the Passport Mobile Parking app. Worlds of Words Center is also located just off of the 2nd St. Modern Streetcar stop.
