All WRAP’d Up: Watch us Rise by Renée Watson and Ellen Hagan
This issue of All WRAP’d Up (a retroactively applied title) was created by the Teen Reading Ambassadors to promote their 2019 Tucson Festival of Books session with Renée Watson and Ellen Hagan to discuss their book, Watch Us Rise. To prepare for the session, the teens read the book and shared it with their teachers, librarians and peers. Then they engaged in a lit discussion with a children’s literature instructor from the U of A College of Education, researched the authors, developed questions and practiced their script. Throughout the festival weekend, they shared their ‘zine with the public. This post includes two pages from the ‘zine and information on how to request a paper copy.
If you would like a copy of our ‘zine response to these books, send a 6.5 X 9.5 self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE - flat rate for under 2 oz.) to: Worlds of Words Center - TRAP, U of A College of Education, 1430 E Second St, Rm 453, Tucson, AZ 85721
Consultants: Cynthia Ryman and Rebecca Ballenger
