All WRAP’d Up: Watch us Rise by Renée Watson and Ellen Hagan

March 5, 2019

This issue of All WRAP’d Up (a retroactively applied title) was created by the Teen Reading Ambassadors to promote their 2019 Tucson Festival of Books session with Renée Watson and Ellen Hagan to discuss their book, Watch Us Rise. To prepare for the session, the teens read the book and shared it with their teachers, librarians and peers. Then they engaged in a lit discussion with a children’s literature instructor from the U of A College of Education, researched the authors, developed questions and practiced their script. Throughout the festival weekend, they shared their ‘zine with the public. This post includes two pages from the ‘zine and information on how to request a paper copy.

Copyright Page
The copyright page for the ‘zine resembles what readers see in traditionally published books. They identify themselves as authors, list Libraries LTD and Literary Society of Tucson as sponsors, include the Worlds of Words Center tagline (Open a book… Open a mind… Change the World!) and share their Instagram handle along with other information.

A full playlist and an empty one
The TRAP Watch Us Rise Angry Girl Playlist includes Jane by Girlpool, Link In Bio by Diet Cig, Sheezus by Lily Allen, You Are the Problem Here by First Aid Kit, Slutmouth by Girlpool, Since When Are You Gay? by Childbirth and Good as Hell by Lizzo. What is on your Angry Girl playlist?
