Imagination Friday with Ana Aranda

This picturebook is about a family who gathers to enjoy favorite foods, play games, and tell stories to celebrate the lives of family members for Día de los Muertos. Aranda’s whimsical, bright illustrations are full of joy and love, and the story is a powerful reminder that our loved ones are always with us.

Ana will share her new book and invite children to draw with her. She will also answer questions.

Ana Aranda was born and raised in Mexico City and studied illustration in France. In San Francisco, she painted murals in the Mission District, for the Consulate General of Mexico, and for the prestigious de Young Museum. She illustrated Moth & Butterfly: Ta-da! (by Dev Petty) and The Chupacabra Ate the Candelabra (by Marc Tyler Nobleman). Her biggest inspirations are her childhood memories, the vibrant colors of Mexico, and music. She currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

Imagination Friday is co-sponsored by the Tucson Festival of Books and Worlds of Words, University of Arizona College of Education and occurs one Friday a month from 1 to 1:40 p.m. through December 2022 with a different author or illustrator each session. Add some excitement to Fridays with world-renowned children’s authors and illustrator to promote new books and encourage children as readers, writers and illustrators.
