Resplandor International and the Worlds of Words Center are excited to announce that Dr. Angela Valenzuela and Dr. Emilio Zamora from the University of Texas-Austin will be our co-scholars for the Richard Ruiz Residency this summer in Guanajuato, Mexico. This virtual presentation to the greater UA community will provide an important discussion around the politics of curriculum in our state and country. Their participation in associated activities will enrich the community of Guanajuato. We hope you can join us for the virtual presentation and consider visiting us in Guanajuato this summer.
The Richard Ruiz Scholar In Residence Lecture Series Presents: A Critical Analysis of Two Decades of Struggle Over the Politics of Curriculum
Virtual Presentation by Dr. Angela Valenzuela and Dr. Emilio Zamora from the University of Texas-Austin, 2023 Richard Ruiz Scholars-in-Residence
Drs. Valenzuela and Zamora will present the historical context of the events that led to the battle over Mexican American Studies in Arizona as well as discuss the social movements and politics of knowledge involved int his struggle over the politics of curriculum.
In addition to the lecture, the two scholars will work with students from the University of Arizona, the University of Guanajuato and other international universities during their month-long summer residence. They will also make scholarly presentations to the greater Guanajuato community, work with local teachers and engage students and families at Resplandor International.
