This book enables students to take an adventure outside of their own world! The book brings the reader on a voyage all around the world to get ingredients to make apple pie. The readers embark on a journey around the world, going everywhere from Jamaica to Sri Lanka getting the ingredients for apple pie!
Throughout the story the reader is able to se e the difference in countries and cultures as the pages turn. From the style of homes and buildings, to the clothing worn by characters in the book the culture is clearly shown through the beautiful illustrations. The changes in culture change from page to page, and place to place are fascinating to see!
What I love about this book is at the end of the book, after she has gotten all of her ingredients and the pie is made, she invites all of her friends from around the world to share it with her. They all sit together at a round table and you can visibly see the difference in cultures as they are seated together.
This book is an excellent book to use with students of all ages to show them the many different cultures that are all around the world!
