Hedgehog is terribly busy. She’s washing, she’s cooking, she’s cleaning. One by one, Elephant, Pig, Teddy, and Lottie stop by. They’d like to eat and play; they’d like attention! But for once, Hedgehog doesn’t have time for them. At the end of the day the mystery is solved when Hedgehog introduces all her friends to her newborn treasure.

Turn Off That Light!
A little hedgehog is fast asleep when all of a sudden, the light clicks on. He is not happy about being woken. “Turn off that light!” he demands. The light switches off. And then on again. And off. And on. “Who keeps doing that?!” The hedgehog bumbles around, exasperated, in a flurry of onomatopoeia — GRRR!! OW! CRUNCH. BANG! — as his room mysteriously goes from dark to light over and over and over again.
Hedgehog’s Magic Tricks
Like many amateur magicians, Hedgehog finds that his tricks don’t always proceed as planned. Mouse doesn’t quite disappear, Rabbit (being larger than Hedgehog) is difficult to pull from the hat, and Duckling is not quite brave enough to endure a turn as magician’s helper. But when Hedgehog’s friends see how sad he is, they provide a surprise that results in everyone agreeing that Hedgehog is very good at magic after all. Preschoolers will delight in the sweet illustrations and in seeing what Hedgehog doesn’t — his friends helping to make his day magical.
Hedgie’s Surprise
Hedgie, the hedgehog, helps Henny, the speckled hen, trick the Tomten who has been eating all of Henny’s eggs for breakfast.
